The Michelin Guide's review
This interesting museum of hunting is housed in the Château de Gien (rebuilt just before 1500). It offers a full picture of the arts and techniques of hunting: tapestries, ceramics, paintings and also beautifully made hunting weapons. The great hall is devoted to the work of two great animal painters associated with Louis XIV: François Desportes (1661-1743) and Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1686-1755). Don't miss the button collection decorated with hunting motifs, or the sculptures by Brigaud and Fath.
