  The Michelin Guide's review
This Benedictine monastery was founded in 1075 near the village of Hronský Beňadik. It was surrounded by fortifications in the first half of the 16C, in order to resist Turkish raids. Decorated with a magnificent Gothic portal, the abbey church houses in its chapel the relic of the Precious Blood of Christ, a fragment of the scarf of St Veronica. The monastery also has 15C frescoes depicting St George.
