Cape Disappointment was ironically named by Lewis and Clark as they first laid eyes on the awe-inspiring sight of the tumultuous Pacific. Cape Disappointment State Park, home to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, which charts the expedition of the two explorers, was named after it. The nearby North Head Lighthouse commands outstanding views of the wave-lashed coastline.
