The Michelin Guide's review
The 130 "Laki Craters", a 25km-long fissure formed by one of the biggest linear eruptions ever seen, make up the incredible landscape that is Lakagígar. From June 1783 to February 1784, Laki vomited a gigantic lava flow, called Eldhraun, which followed riverbeds such as Skaftá, destroying farms and killing their inhabitants on its way. Scoria and ashes cover the place.
