The Michelin Guide's review
The Singhalese-style chedi in Wat Chang Rob rests on a base supported by 68 elephants sculpted from brick laterite and then covered with stucco. In the style of Atlas, they support the building which here symbolises Mount Meru, the centre of the Buddhist universe. Guarded by stone lions, four flights of steep steps lead to the upper terrace, where pilgrims carry out their ritual perambulations.
