The Michelin Guide's review
The rural village of Kerimäki is eclipsed by its wooden church, the largest in the world, which has a 5 000-person capacity and 27m-high dome. The original plans were laid out by the architect AF Granstedt (1800-49), but the local superintendent of works, Axel Tolpo, opted instead to go with the grandiose ideas of the parishioners, resulting in a church that can also be used as a concert venue during the summer season.
