The market square is the heart of the city, which, like a magnet, will always draw you back; it was the religious, economic and political centre of medieval Kraków. The Rynek remains the nerve centre of tourists' experience of Kraków today. This vast 200m-long expanse (4ha area) is a rare surviving example of original medieval urban planning. Framed by 47 façades, it is home to the haughty Church of Our Lady.
