The Michelin Guide's review
The Via Egnatia, in the south section of the Philippi site, was the main street of Roman Philippi (note the ruts worn by chariots). It runs alongside the forum, which was built mostly under the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. All around are vestiges of the market, and the Basilica, the construction of which was never completed.
