The first confrontation between British soldiers and Minutemen took place in this triangular park on April 19, 1775. Henry Kitson's statue The Minuteman depicts the leader of the Lexington militia, Captain Parker. Seven of the colonists killed here that day are buried beneath the Revolutionary Monument.
