The Michelin Guide's review
Opened in 2008 in the Alcântara docks, this huge cultural space is located in former refrigerated warehouses used to store cod. The museum documents Portugal's long-established relations with the Orient and its voyages in the Far East through its display of Chinese porcelain and ceramics, Indo-Portuguese furniture, textiles, paintings, silverware, as well as a fine collection of Burmese lacquerwork and carved ivory boxes from Ceylon.
