The Michelin Guide's review
Proud of its "cockney" culture, the East End's identity has equally been moulded by waves of immigration. To the east of the City, this vast area stretches out to Stratford, West Ham and beyond. Its lively multiculturalism contrasts starkly with the business propriety of the City, and the cutting-edge modernity of the docks to the south and west. There are few monuments to see, but there is a trendy, cosmopolitan and egalitarian ambiance here which is undeniably appealing.
