  The Michelin Guide's review
The Royal Society of Arts was founded in 1754 to promote the arts and commerce. No 8 John Adam Street was built for the Society in 1772-74, and its charming rear façade is topped by an attractive statue of a water carrier. It can be seen from the top of the small flight of steps linking Durham House Street to the Strand.
