Here's a particularly successful example of rehabilitation as we like it in Bahrain: the fruitful meeting of traditional architecture and contemporary art. On one side, a carefully restored mansion, on the other a modern extension housing a pleasant café (where only coffee is served). In between is a stunning bamboo garden designed by Madison Cox, the star gardener of the jet-set and curator of the Majorelle gardens in Marrakech. The various rooms are dedicated to the memory of Ghazi Al Gossabi, one of the most important contemporary Arab writers.
