The Michelin Guide's review
Originally built by thirteen 12C Cistercian monks, the abbey was transformed by restoration in the 19C. Its monastic buildings became part-medieval castle, part-Renaissance château. The church blends purity, simplicity and harmony of proportions. Don't miss the painted and carved wooden triptych (15C). The cloister is today the backdrop for a pleasure garden and retains three sides, restored in the 19C. The chapter house, a 15C reconstruction, has two finely moulded central columns.
