The Michelin Guide's review
In 1668 Marguerite Bourgeoys built a house here to care for the King's wards (les Filles du Roy). Destroyed by fire in 1693, the structure was rebuilt five years later, on the old foundations. Restored in 1965 and today thought to be one of the oldest structures on Montreal Island, the house serves as a historical museum, displaying 18C furniture, domestic appliances and utensils, together with documents relating to Marguerite Bourgeoys and Notre Dame congregation.
