It was from Morgedal that the Olympic flame of the Lillehammer Games came in 1994. It had been lit in the house where Sondre Norheim, Norway's first skiing champion, was born in 1825. His statue stands on the village square. This centre is dedicated to the history of skiing and includes a reconstruction of Sondre Norheim's chalet and workshop, and presents spectacular films projected onto three screens.
