  The Michelin Guide's review
Built by William II de Villehardouin then reworked by the Byzantines and the Turks, Mystras Kástro has two spectacular baileys that are still intact. The first wall on the left leads to the vaulted gateway, flanked by a sturdy tower that marks the entrance. Inside is the second wall, which protected the seigneurial living quarters. There, De Villehardouin and his wife Anne Angelina Doukaina held a brilliant court surrounded by Frankish knights. The highlight of a visit here is the view over the Taygetus and the town.
