4km east of the Presidio Modelo along the Reparto Chacón road lies Playa Bibijagua, sharing its name with an ant that attacks tobacco plantations. If staying in Nueva Gerona, it's worth taking in this beach of black sand for the sheer curiosity factor, but the beaches to the south and west of the island are far more attractive.
