Snæfellsjökull National Park

Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Natural site
The Michelin Guide's review
Although Snæfellsjökull is the jewel of this national park, with its sublime white icecap visible from tens of kilometres in every direction, it also boasts other stunning sights which can be enjoyed on hikes around the park. Lava fields, basalt cliffs, volcanic cones, sand dunes and everlasting snow, the variety of natural phenomena is only rivalled by the beauty of the landscapes and the wealth of flora and fauna. This was also the departure point of Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
