The Michelin Guide's review
North of Bordeaux, the Médoc peninsula lies between the River Gironde and the Atlantic. Enjoying exceptional natural conditions and a winemaking tradition dating back to Louis XIV, Haut-Médoc is an area of châteaux and leading vineyards. Covering 4 800ha, the wine-growing area is composed of six districts: Margaux, Moulis, Listrac, Saint-Julien, Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe. Visitors can combine exploring the vineyards here with a visit to the châteaux, all of which vie with each other in terms of beauty.
