The Michelin Guide's review
Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Guaraní Jesuit reductions were created in Argentina in the 17C to organise the evangelisation of the indigenous peoples. The Guaraní lived, worked and worshipped in these settlements, which were conceived as a more benign form of colonialism. A visit of the vestiges makes for a fascinating jorney back in time.
