Prague Castle's third courtyard

 Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
Watched over by St Vitus Cathedral, the castle's third courtyard, the venue for official ceremonies, owes much to Josip Plečnik (1872-1957). This is the man behind the clever layout of the levels of the courtyard (levelling out an awkward slope and uncovering the foundations of the Romanesque basilica) and the Bull Staircase, which crosses the south wing towards the southern gardens below. He had the large granite obelisk built, a monument to those killed in the First World War.
