Provins ramparts

Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
Built in the 13C and 14C, the ramparts, of which only 2km remain, are a fine example of medieval military architecture. The most interesting part of the ramparts, standing 25m in height, are located between Porte Saint-Jean and Porte de Jouy. The "Tour aux Engins", linking two courtyards, is named after a barn where machines of war (engins) were once stored. Bird of prey displays are held behind the tower. Splendid view of the rooftops.
