The Michelin Guide's review
The Museo Amparo mainly exhibits beautiful Prehispanic art works and objects belonging to the remarkable collection assembled by Manuel Espinosa. Among the 3 000 pieces on display, note in particular a Maya throne made during the Classical period whose origins remain unknown. The museum, which opened in the early 1990s, is in the collector's home and has several rooms devoted to colonial art and 20C paintings.
