The Michelin Guide's review
Northeast of Rabat, Maâmora Forest is Morocco's main source of cork oak, used for its bark and wood. The precious trees occupy 134 000ha - mixed with some eucalyptus that has been gaining ground, especially in the northern section, in service of the cellulose and pulp industries. This forest, which is more like a huge park, is a wonderful place for a stroll in the springtime, when the trees share the limelight with a carpet of flowers.
