Designed with the aim of exploiting the huge hydroelectric potential of northern Quebec, the ambitious James Bay project incorporated long-term plans to build 19 power stations grouped into three complexes. Only the complex La Grande, which supplies over half of the electricity produced in Quebec, materialised. Guided tours (English tours by appointment) inform you about the site's history and activity and include a look around the impressive generating station.
