Old Riga or the Old Town

Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
City and village
The Michelin Guide's review
The delights of the old town of Riga lie between the Daugave and the Pilsetas canal, bordered to the north by K. Valdemara Street and to the south by 13. Janvara Street. In its maze of little streets are fine restored houses recalling the city's history as a prosperous mercantile centre (see the house of the Black Heads and of course the Three Brothers), plus cathedrals and churches whose bell towers soar skywards, and museums that vie to do outdo each other in their appeal.
