At the mouth of the Péribonka River along the north bank of Lake Saint-Jean, Pointe-Taillon peninsula, stretching for nearly 20km/12mi over 92sq km/35sq mi, was formed by post-glacial alluvial deposits. Mainly made up of marshes, swamps and peat bogs, it is also covered with a forest of black spruce and birch. By the shore of the lake, the forest gives way to a fine sandy beach that attracts migrating ducks and geese in the fall. The park has no lack of outdoor activities.
