Civil and military monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
This broad street lined with Federal-style mansions illustrates the prosperity of 19C Salem. Most of the dwellings were built between 1800 and 1820 and their size and richly adorned facades are quite spectacular. Hamilton Hall (no. 9) was designed by Samuel McIntire. Phillips House (no. 34), decorated with furnishings from around the world, is open to the public.
