Teotihuacán: Avenue of the Dead

Historical and archaeological site
The Michelin Guide's review
The Avenue of the Dead connects the Ciudadela and the Pyramid of the Moon on a straight 2km north-south path closely following the lay of the land in successive tiers, or "squares" used as gathering places and connected to the temples on the sides. The foundations of older temples stand along the Avenue of the Dead (the Aztecs thought they were tombs), and one should try to imagine the whole complex painted in red, yellow and green.
