Well worth the diversions
Religious monument
The Michelin Guide's review
The small wooden Shigetsu-den Temple is the oldest (13C) on the Izu Peninsula. Inside is a Sutra Library created by Masako to appease the soul of her son, and perhaps her own too, since the question of her having played a role in his assassination lingered. Next to the temple, at the foot of Shikayama hill in Genji Park, you will find the tomb of Minamoto no Yoriie (1182-1204), son of the first shogun of Japan, which was reconstructed in 1703 to mark the 500th anniversary of his death.
