Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahatat

Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Religious monument
The Michelin Guide's review
Rising above the slender sugar palm trees not far from the river, a 60m-high prang is the first sign of this temple. From the top of the steps behind the large Buddha, there are fine views of the river and the wooden suspension bridge. Probably founded in the 14C, then restored and extended during the Ayutthaya period, this temple is a successful blend of Khmer and Sukhothai styles.
