Sibiu Lower Town

Michelin Guide
City and village
The Michelin Guide's review
Alongside the ancient ramparts (some of which remain standing), the medieval lower town comprised the houses of merchants and artisans, while the upper town was home to richer families. Stroll amomg the streets running below Little Square: note the 13C hospice flanked by its church, and structures incorporated into the fortifications such as the goldsmiths' tower, staircase passage and the extraordinary house of the golden barrel.
