This national park, lying northeast of Riga and covering some 90 000ha, encompasses the varied topography of the Gauja Valley. It includes forests, prairies, rivers, lakes and marshland, punctuated by impressive rock formations and caves, not to mention numerous historical buildings and a rich biodiversity, including both animals and plants.
