  The Michelin Guide's review
Surrounding the three sides of a courtyard, Melford Hall was built in the early Elizabethan period. Only the main hall has preserved its Elizabethan characteristics. The salon is made of superb rococo and the neo-Greek staircase (1813) is by Thomas Hopper. In the western room, where Beatrix Potter often slept, you can see her watercolours.
