  The Michelin Guide's review
The superb Hwaseong Fortress (1796), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, King Jeongjo's homage to his father, surrounds Suwon. Four gates and several bastions stand at various points along the ramparts; 41 of the 50 original buildings are visible. From the highest point, Seojangdae, there is a superb view over several dozen kilometres. At no time is the walk monotonous, with its curves and sometimes steep hills, well-trimmed trees, manicured lawns and flags flapping in the wind.
