The Michelin Guide's review
As the name suggests, this huge square is dominated by the imposing town hall. The bell tower with a weathervane - the figure of Old Thomas - overlooks a row of lovely stone houses built by merchants in the Middle Ages. Many café terraces have today replaced the market stalls of bygone days, although at no 11 one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe remains, complete with medieval atmosphere.
