The Michelin Guide's review
This Shinto shrine merges completely into the surrounding forest of hundred-year-old cedar trees (a designated National Cultural Property). Once past the Nio-mon entrance gate and its threatening guardians (19C), you go up a staircase of mossy steps to the main, wonderfully minimalist pavilion. The shrine is devoted to the 27th emperor of Japan, Ankan (6C), and to 13 other divinities.
