The River Kok links Tha Ton with Chiang Rai, and numerous tour operators offer trips by canoe along its course. Although very touristy, these trips are very popular, with a well-established route that includes a stop at Ban Ruammit before reaching Chiang Rai. The superb landscape of forests and tightly packed bamboo trees, and the opportunity to view everyday life along the banks of the Kok, make this a rewarding excursion.
