The Michelin Guide's review
The island of Thassos forms a mountainous silhouette above the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. Dominated by the fragrant pine-covered slopes of Mount Ipsari (1,127 m), the coastline is dotted with sandy spits and deep coves. A green island with sunny shores and an excellent infrastructure, Thassos has many attractions that have made it a popular holiday destination since ancient times. Before it became a tourist destination, it was one of the most dynamic centres in northern Greece, as the marble ruins of Limenas still testify.
