Well worth the diversions
Religious monument
The Michelin Guide's review
Unlike the Benedictines, the Cistercians lived in the utmost simplicity and took a vow of silence. The original modest church (1131) was replaced in the late 13C by a much more extravagant building, most of which has been preserved to this day. You can get a great open view of the whole of the church, 72m long. Further along, on the lawn, lie more than foundations: chapterhouse, infirmary, cloister, refectory, the abbey's residence and guest house.
