The Michelin Guide's review
In 1969 a fire destroyed a number of the town centre's traditional wooden houses but enough remain for the town to have retained part of its 19C character. On the edge of the strait, you can admire Tromsøbrua, a boldly constructed bridge, while the snowcapped Storsteinen looms large on the horizon. The triangular silhouette of the Arctic Cathedral (1965) stands on the Tromsdalen side. Along the port side, the wooden warehouses painted dark red are typical of the region.
