The Michelin Guide's review
The stunning region of mountains and forest to the east of Ushuaia is much appreciated by hikers hoping to feast their eyes on the lakes and lagoons that occupy the valleys. The Laguna Esmeralda, the closest to the city, offers one of the most beautiful hikes (medium difficulty), crossing peat bogs and following lovely torrents with superb colours, especially in autumn. At the end of the trail, at the foot of black and ochre mountains, there is a lake with captivating emerald waters.
