The entrance to Chinatown, home to Canada's largest Chinese community, is through Vancouver Chinatown Millennium Gate built in 2000 to celebrate the 21st century. Restaurants and grocery stores gradually immerse the visitor in a China that is, all told, quite smart and even shy, except around the Chinese New Year.
