The Michelin Guide's review
To get to the Murrisk peninsula from Westport, take the R 335 heading west. After climbing Ireland's sacred mountain, Croagh Patrick, continue to Roonagh Quay from where ferries cross to Clare Island. Surrounded by 90m-high cliffs, this rock-like island commands access to Clew bay. On the return journey, stop at the old Bunlahinch Bridge, a remarkable bridge made of huge stone slabs. The road then continues down to Doo Lough, flanked by the Mweelrea mountains and the Sheeffry hills.
