  The Michelin Guide's review
Directly inspired by the Gesù in Rome, the Jesuit church was built over the period 1624 to 1631 in the early Baroque style. Its sumptuous decor reflects the power of the Jesuits, who, in the 17C, played a part in eliminating all Protestant influence from Austria. The master of trompe-l'oeil, Andrea Pozzo, who also painted the Apotheosis of Sant'Ignazio in Rome, created the decor of the cupola and the pulpit encrusted with mother-of-pearl.
