The Michelin Guide's review
Posterity tends to focus on the tragic death of Mishima (1925-1970), who committed suicide by disembowelment, in accordance with the samurai ritual. His remarkable and sombre work, which led to his being three times considered for the Nobel Prize for Literature, is thereby relegated to the background. Devotees come from all over the world to the Mishima Yukio Literary Museum, which commemorates the cult writer and presents photos, original manuscripts and a meticulous reconstruction of his office.
