Named for its deeply creative, German-born chef, Günter Seeger is an original. Even the space has a uniquely personal feel, as if we are all dining in Chef Seeger’s home. The main room is charming, relaxing and very elegant, starring white brick walls hung with modern art, mauve ceiling pendants and an open kitchen. Meals are perfectly timed and each dish is served with care, thanks to a staff of true professionals. This is an idyllic retreat for a romantic dinner. Gentlemen, don't forget to don your jackets here. The kitchen’s refined compositions are arranged so beautifully that guests are sure to appreciate the artistry of food rendered with finesse. Asian-inspired scallops arrive gently cooked, then topped with shaved radish, bok choy and a tableside pour of dashi. A breast and leg of hibachi-grilled squab is lovely on its own, but here it rests on a thin sheet of dried dates, before being crowned by an arresting sight of purple and saffron-hued cauliflower. The tasting menus may change with the seasons but always present completely inventive items. Desserts stand out with the likes of matcha choux pastry filled with dark chocolate sorbet, or a wildflower honey parfait.
