Mount Hood
The Green Guide

Useful information

Description

Oregon's highest peak, Mount Hood, reaches 3426m/11240ft. Visitors can hike along forest trails, admire alpine glaciers, drive down scenic roads and make a stop at one of several rustic inns; it is also possible to ski all year long on challenging slopes. It was in 1805 that explorers Lewis and Clark became the first white Americans to lay eyes on this massive volcanic cone, which, in the mid-19C, announced the end of a very long road to desperate emigrants.
