A visit to the salt marshes in Aigues-Mortes, where salt has been extracted since Antiquity, provides information on the long production process of this precious commodity. Visitors will learn why the water here is pink and will also be able to admire the region's many birds, both migratory and native, including the famous pink flamingos, and local flora which includes sea-lavender and samphire.
